"gun control is the ability to reacquire the target after the first shot."
gun control does not keep guns out of the hands of criminals it keeps guns out of the hands of ordinary honest citizens and is a political sop for politicians seeking sound bytes.
Children, if you find a gun. DO NOT touch it! Get a police officer or any adult. DO NOT touch fire, rattle snakes, or your sisters stuff either! All these things are extremely dangerous!
This page features all types of guns. Click the links for more information. The pictures are of my guns. I have many including the fine products of strum ruger and company. I use these guns in my everyday life. Bill Ruger knows what he is doing when it comes to building fine firearms. The picture of the ruger .357 in the left corner is a gun that I bought in 1974 for about $130.00. Hey Bill, it still shoots great!
Read here about the greatest gun control failures.
To most people gun control is a do nothing stack of gun laws that politicians pass to get votes and then do not enforce. Gun control does not keep guns out of the hands of criminals or children. Gun control laws keep guns out of the hands of honest citizens. Enforcement of gun control laws against criminals gets the criminals and guns off the streets. Parents keep guns out of the hands of children. It is not the governments business to try. The top gun of useless gun laws is Bill Clinton. He, it seems, has some trouble keeping his gun in it's holster. Bill wants to close down gun shows so ordinary honest citizens are put to more time, trouble, and paper work to get a gun. A handgun carried concealed by an honest citizen is a deterrent to crime. Thirty-two states have enacted, "Must Issue" concealed weapons laws. In all thirty-two states gun violence has dropped.
"...arms...discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as
well as property. ...Horrid mischief would ensue were (the law-abiding) deprived the use of them."
-Thomas Paine.
"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; theyserve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
-Thomas Jefferson, quoting Cesare Beccaria.
"Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel.
Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are
ruined...The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able might have a gun.:
-Patrick Henry.
The picture of the colt 1911 in the upper right corner is an automatic that I bought at a gun show. As near as I can trace it. The gun was built under colt's license by the Argentine government in 1921-1922. They used all of colt's machinery to build the gun. My mom who was born in 1924 likes to keep this gun to hand. I pity the burglar who breaks in on this defenseless old lady. Both of the girls shoot just fine after all these years.
A trip to your local gun
shop can be rewarding. I bought this
smith
and wesson
model 457 for
concealed carry. It is a .45 acp. As you can see there is a lot of
holster wear on the weapon. I carry it from ten to twelve hours a
day. When I first got the gun I tried a little test. I carried it for
a total of 2100 hours without cleaning. After that time despite
plenty of pocket lint and dust and good old dirt the .45 smith fired
the seven round magazine without a flaw. The second magazine same as
the first. Way to go smith and wesson! I keep it loaded with 180 gr.
hollow points. It will never be confused with an invitation to a warm
shower. (para pharsed from Clint Eastwood in one of his fine
movies)
This is the AMT .380 backup auto pistol. I like it to carry the
gun in my brief case or boot. I was surprised to find that even with
it some what rudimentary sights you can hit center of mass at 25
yards.
This
is a beretta
.40 caliber Cougar that I keep under the counter. Beretta built this
one with a rotating barrel to absorb recoil. It works. Target
reacquisition is instant.
I also have a collection of rifles and shotguns. They are too long to fit into my scanner. I am going to add a link to the shotgun news. A shotgun is the best defensive combat weapon made.
