The Local Shop Owner's
Life Blood is Tied Up into His Business.
The local computer repair shop
does not have millions of dollars to spend on advertising to
tell you how terrific he is repairing computers. He depends
on word of mouth. He proves how terrific he is every day.
Like a good auto mechanic he is not interested in selling
you parts that you do not need, insurance plans that cost
and perform only if he says they do, or giving advice that
has no basis in fact. He wants your business to repeat. He
wants you to tell you friends and relatives.
He does not want to
worry that some one will go to
the time, trouble, and expense
of putting up a web site like this one.
I am running an IBM 4.3 GB
computer that I did not buy at Best Buy. It has 32 MB of RAM
Now that is plenty fast enough for my needs but I wanted to
see what would happen if I took it to a local shop and told
them I wanted 64 MB of Ram.
First of all the technicians
told me that I did not need it. No charge for the advice. I
insisted, and he put it in for $78.38. That is parts and
labor and everything. Best of all I had the computer in and
out of his shop in under two hours and it works!
I have already sent more
business his way.
