The Lawyers-

Most companies have Consumer Relations Experts. Best Buy uses Lawyers.

Miss Manager Nolastname declined to give Leila a new computer. Instead, she offers to send it to the Livonia Michigan repair facility to have the technicians there restore it to factory specifications. Cost $60.00, Length of stay, five days. Now anybody who can read English can restore a Packard Bell computer to it's factory specs in less than two hours. The Best Buy technicians may have some difficulty in the literacy area judging by the spelling on the work orders. I am sure they have all asked at one time or another, "If I can spell technician, does that mean that I are one?"

This is where it should have ended. Somebody with a sense of fair play should have said, "Give the woman a new computer. Make everybody happy." Unfortunately this could set a precedent that Best But may not be able to afford. According to PC World magazine all of the Big Four retail computer chains are in trouble when it comes to competent computer technicians. Best Buy, CompUSA, Computer City, and Radio Shack were all tested on a variety of problems. All failed miserable. Only Best Buy refused to comment for the article.

This is where it should have ended. It didn't

Leila had begun to suspect that the advertised expert technicians, may not exist in the Best Buy Saginaw store. She declined to let them stick their fingers back into her $2000.00 machine.

We lugged the Leila's computer back to my house where I got it to boot to windows by the simple method of copying the values in the config.sys file in my computer to her's. I was astounded that it worked. I know very little about computers, but evidently more than the computer technician's at Best Buy.

For my part, I am sick and tired of talking to the entire Nolastname family, who, it turns out, are closely related to the Knownothings. I am pretty sure this family operates in at least thirty-two states and the District of Colombia.

The General Manager of the Best Buy store is not related to the Nolastname family. His name is Mike Everheart, or Eberhardt. No one seems to know how to spell his name. If you like elevator music call 517 799-8266. When someone comes on the line ask to speak to Mike Everheart. He is not there. It does not matter what time of the day or the day of the week. Mike is not there.

For a different selection of elevator music and a long long time to enjoy it call the Consumer Relations Hot Line 1-800-369-5050. After punching your fingers into stumps trying to wade through the automatic phone machine. You will have even a longer time to enjoy the music. If any one ever does get through and talk to a human being who has the authority to do any thing but answer the phone, please let me know.
